Youth News from the Martins A New Saddle for the Special Kid's Hoofbeats Therapeutic Riding Program - Dana Bobo, the Hoofbeats program director, sends a big thank you to our CCC Chi-Rho & CYF youth for their donation of a saddle, costing $200.00, which will be used on one of two newly donated horses to the Special Kid's Hoofbeats Therapeutic Riding Program. Because of their donation, children who have previously been on a waiting list to enter the program will now be able to start their therapeutic sessions. What an awesome blessing that our youth have seen the needs of these disabled children and have placed it on their hearts to fill that need. The Hoofbeats program is still in need of one additional saddle, two saddle pads, two halters, and grooming equipment. If you would like to make a huge difference in the lives of children with disabilities, you can walk in the footsteps of our youth and support this very worthy cause. To make a donation of any amount you can contact the Martins or Dana Bobo at Special Kid's. Please be sure you specify that your donation is for the Hoofbeats program. JYF NEWS: Our JYF Youth have been meeting for several weeks now and are having a splendid time. A lot of hard work goes into this program. If you have a JYF aged child, take advantage of this wonderful service being provided for your child. They are enjoying their time learning about God and their faith through discussion, art and song. Chi-Rho & CYF News: Our Chi-Rho and CYF youth are planning a lock -in at the church in June. If you would like to provide snacks for this event, please contact the Martins . We are looking for simple items like popcorn, chips, and drinks for the big screen movie. We also could use four large pizzas for their light supper. June is also the month that our youth will be getting back to nature. We will be cleaning up our environment by going on a "trash pickup hike" at Barfield Crescent Park. After our hike we will enjoy a picnic in the park. For the past month our older youth have been diligently working on their "faith paintings". In this project our youth had to reflect on what faith means to them. They then made a paper drawing to reflect their thoughts. After perfecting their drawings they transposed their pencil drawing onto 11 x 14 inch canvas. For the past several weeks have been putting paint to canvas. To finish up their project they are also working on writing out a short essay about how faith is depicted in their painting. |
