Our Pastor -  Steven Odom

Pastor Steven Odom likes to think that though he's not a Tennessean, he got here as soon as he could. Steve and his wife Nelia were married in 1977 and they have two children, Clare and Peter who live in Texas. Born and raised in Florida (BA FSU 1977), he received the M.Div. from Emory University in 1981 and D.Min. at the Graduate Theological Foundation in 1994. He was a Campus Minister at the University of Wisconsin from 1980-82, Associate Pastor at Park Ridge Community Church in Park Ridge, IL from 1982-87, Pastor of Palisades Community Church in Washington, D.C. from 1987-1993, and Pastor of First Christian Church in Terrell, TX from 1993-2007, when he finally made it to Tennessee! Steve is partial to theologians Paul Holmer, Karl Barth, Richard Hays, Christopher Seitz and R.R. Reno. When he can take his nose out of a book he likes to garden and walk. Steve really enjoys Murfreesboro weather and thinks most people here don't appreciate how mild it is, especially compared to Florida, Texas and Chicago! Favorite food? Silly question: bacon, of course!

Our Student Director and Communications Coordinator- Nicole Martin

Nicole Martin was raised and grew up in Murfreesboro her entire life and attended Central Christian Church since Elementary School age. She graduated from Oakland High School in 2011 and from Middle Tennessee State University in 2015 with a Bachelors Degree in Horse Science and a minor in Psychology. Her life goal is to start a ministry using Equine Assisted Therapy to help the youth here in the Middle Tennessee Area. She also enjoys working at Painting With A Twist in Murfreesboro. And when she isn't at Church, the Art Studio, or the Barn, you can find her enjoying some downtime reading, writing, or enjoying any of the multitude of nerdy things that she is into :) Trust me, just ask her about anything nerdy and she will talk non-stop!

Our Choir Director/Organist- Michael Hooper

Dr. Michael Hooper spent most of his childhood traveling across the country as the son of an Air Force Civilian Senior Executive.  Dr. Hooper earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance from the Pennsylvania State University, he received his Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance from the Peabody Institute of Music, he earned his Master of Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins University, and received his Doctorate of Education from Lipscomb University.  He has performed with many orchestras in Maryland and Washington D.C., including the Washington Symphony Orchestra, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Columbia Orchestra, and the Chesapeake Orchestra.   He has taught music at the St. Mary’s College of Maryland and the Park School of Baltimore, and has composed and arranged music for adult choir, teen choir, handbells, marimba and piano.  Active in church music since 1987, he has served as the Director of Music for churches in Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, and Tennessee, and has been serving as the Director of Music for Central Christian Church since September 2019.  He is a former ballroom dancing instructor, and he lives with his wife Carrie and their miniature schnauzer, Augie.
